A Practical Comfort-Testing Checklist for VR Builds

April 30, 2026

Locomotion is the first thing to check. Smooth locomotion without a vignette or snap-turn option will cause discomfort in a meaningful share of players within minutes, regardless of how good the rest of the build is.

Second, we check frame stability under load, not just average framerate. A single dropped frame during fast head movement is far more noticeable, and far more nauseating, than a slightly lower but stable framerate throughout.

Finally, we test hand-tracking interactions with generous hit-tolerance before tightening it. Players blame themselves for a missed grab in VR far less than they blame the game, and that friction shows up as churn, not bug reports.
